Correct a Published Match Replay Without Losing Track of Shared Links
Plan a corrected match replay as a controlled release: identify the existing URL, check the replacement workflow and verify the new cut before updating shared links.
Before replacing a published match replay, record its current address and confirm whether your platform updates the existing video or creates a separate item. Keep an identifiable copy of the approved cut. A corrected file is only part of the task: viewers must reach the intended version from the links already shared.
Establish what the replacement operation actually does
Vimeo documents a replacement workflow that retains the video URL, embed code and share links. Treat that as a documented Vimeo capability, not a promise that another host behaves identically. Check the operation available in your workspace before submitting a replacement.
Pleymeikel Labs lets creators manage videos and artwork from their account. Confirm the options for the specific title in that account; this guide does not assume that a replacement preserves its address, comments or viewing history.
Prepare a release record
- Identify the current video by its title, published URL and file version. Save the approved source file separately from the proposed correction.
- Describe the change: a corrected scoreboard, an audio repair or a revised cut. Decide who will approve the result.
- List places where the address appears, such as a club page, an embedded player or an announcement. Distinguish public links from internal review links.
- Record whether the workflow preserves the existing address or requires a new one. If this is unclear, resolve it before changing the published item.
Check what an edit moves
In a hypothetical replay, a correction removes 20 seconds of the opening slate. Every later event now occurs 20 seconds earlier in that edited file. Chapter positions and subtitle timing need review against the new cut. Do not assume that an unchanged title or URL means those references are still accurate.
Review the corrected passage, a later passage and the ending. Compare the duration and audio with the approved export. Where applicable, check subtitles and chapter destinations using the version viewers will receive.
Verify the release from a shared link
After processing and the required publication steps finish, open a previously shared address as an intended viewer and inspect a passage that visibly distinguishes the new cut. A familiar cover image alone does not identify the version.
If the workflow created a new URL, update the destinations you control and clearly identify the corrected version in any necessary announcement. Do not remove the earlier item until you have decided how existing links should be handled. Keep the old and new file identifiers, the final URL and the approval record together so the next correction starts from a known state.
